Evonne Goolagong Cawley Scholarship

Purpose

The Evonne Goolagong Cawley Scholarship aims to support young First Nations people to pursue their tennis dreams by reducing financial barriers to coaching and competition opportunities.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available exclusively to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

To be eligible to receive a Scholarship, potential recipients must, at the time of nomination:

  • be living in Australia;
  • be aged between 12-24
  • not be receiving support from Tennis Australia’s high performance programs
  • be experiencing financial circumstances that negatively impacts their opportunities in tennis
  • meet the below UTR minimum requirements

NOTE:  ATF reserves the right to approve applicants outside these UTR requirements in extenuating circumstances.

Scholarship nominations will not be based on performance alone.  Considerations such as character, involvement in community, family circumstances and academic commitment will be considered. 

Participation in other Evonne Goolagong Foundation activities will be advantageous, but not essential.

How the funds can be used

Scholarship funding can be used for the following:

  • Coaching fees
  • Equipment
  • Travel expenses
  • Competition fees

Additional expense categories may be considered on a need basis at the discretion of the Nominations Committee and subject to ATF board approval.
